I come from a long line of artists like my uncles. My uncles are Norman Lansing, Stacy Lansing and Herbert Lansing from Towaoc Colorado. I like looking at different types of art. I am a educational assistant at KWIYAGAT COMMUNITY ACADEMY in Towaoc Colorado. I also do photography.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Chris Hutton is enjoying a successful second career as a landscape artist after spending 35 years in global food manufacturing, where he held executive leadership roles in Quality and Supply Chain. Throughout his business career, Chris maintained a lifelong passion for the arts, including owning an art gallery while continuing to develop his skills as a landscape painter. Today, his work can be found in private and corporate collections across the United States and in several countries around the world.
Hutton begins each painting by laying out a simple grid with small reference marks to establish accurate scale and composition. He typically starts with a warm-toned underpainting, applying broad, expressive strokes that create an abstract foundation for the piece. As the painting develops, he carefully refines values, color, and composition to guide the viewer's eye naturally through the landscape. Up close, his paintings reveal energetic, abstract brushwork, yet from a distance they take on a striking sense of realism that is often compared to photography.
Over the past two decades, Hutton has studied with renowned artists Curt Walters, Rick Howell, Jeffrey Watts, Roland Roycraft, and Xiang Zhang. These experiences have helped him refine a distinctive style that combines expressive brushwork with a strong sense of realism.
Originally from Rocky Ford, Hutton earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Colorado State University. In 2015, he returned to Colorado and now lives in Mancos, where he has been building his own barn home and studio. Studio tours and plein air painting classes are available by appointment.

RIA COSTA
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Ria is originally from Havana Cuba but grew up in the midwest and the south then spent her formative years on the East Coast. Drawing from an early age, her art came into fruition when as an adult she realized that she was a prophetic artist with works on display in shops, and churches in New Jersey. Mostly self taught, she studied with various award winning artists across the United States while full time RVing. A gypsy spirit and deep spirituality drove her passions as she worked as a missionary oversees and in the states.
Ria came to the Four Corners area in 1999 while working and ministering at Mesa Verde Park with her music and Sunday teaching. She had felt a pull at the age of 10 that Colorado was her spirit home so she came back every year until finally settling here in 2019.
Now living a peaceful and modest life on the river with her rescue, Josie, she is embracing everything this area has to offer.
Ria works mostly in Acrylics now but loves to play with all mediums.
