ABOUT THE ARTIST
Originally from Buffalo, New York, Lena May is a multidisciplinary artist whose work is shaped by travel, community, and a deep appreciation for color and culture. After serving as a Resident Artist at the Lewiston Artpark on the New York–Ontario Canada border, where she created upcycled jewelry from reclaimed materials, she continued to explore new artistic mediums and environments.
While living on Padre Island, Texas, Lena began painting coastal landscapes, capturing the movement, light, and serenity of beach life. Her artistic journey has since expanded into large-scale public art. Her Streetscapes submission represents her second mural, following her first public mural—a vibrant Buffalo Bills-inspired piece created in Cozumel, Mexico.
Lena is also the co-founder of Inspire Me Latin America, a brand built on collaboration with talented artisans in Guatemala. Through frequent travels, she partners with local artists who create handcrafted leather goods and traditional textile fashions, celebrating craftsmanship while supporting cultural preservation and ethical entrepreneurship.
Now based in Dolores, Colorado, where she has lived for the past four years, Lena draws inspiration from the landscapes of the Southwest, her travels throughout Latin America, and the people she meets along the way. Her work reflects a love of bold color, storytelling, and the connections that art creates across cultures, inviting viewers to experience the beauty found in both place and shared human experience.
