ABOUT THE ARTIST
Hi there! My name is Touria (rhymes with Maria). I am a self taught artist with a gypsy soul originally from the indigenous Amazigh people of Morocco, currently based in Southwest Colorado. I was always drawing as a child most often horses which I still love painting, with animals often the central theme in my work. Once I figured out how to work with color and paints the vibrant colors, shapes, and patterns of the African cultures I experienced early in life transferred to my paintings. I am also inspired by the contrasts in scenery and complimentary nature of colors here in the high desert. The main work I have been doing to survive for over 10 years now is in construction with my business Sage Cat Designs and I am also a certified Massage Therapist. I do some art classes through local groups and you can find me painting when I am not working, working out, wandering around with my daughter and pup, riding my iron horse, dancing at live music, or maintaining my self built homestead.
